The All-Seeing Nose?
So you're not from around here, yeah? Here let me get a whiff of you real quick.

...Hm, I don't think I've ever smelled someone of your species before, it's interesting...
...hmmm. Getting a bunch of artificial scents coming off of you. ...you just got off a spaceship, but you've probably been living on a space colony for awhile before that?
The sunlight and fresh air will do wonders for you while you're here, I'm sure.
Woah you can tell all that just from a scent? Having a nose must be like some kind of superpower! I don't think my species can smell anything!
All that and more, man! There's a whole world of information I can pick up with this thing. Can't say I know what it's like for other species, but for us Kinncillians our smell's the most reliable sense we got! It's honestly easier to tell people apart by scent instead of looks.
Living things have all kinds of "pheromones" and all that, you know? Our noses pick up on those things kinds of things to get a read on each others feelings. It's really reliable! We can even tell if someone's getting sick just by scent alone, before symptoms even start a lot of the time.
The baby's going going to use a really specific scent to tell me when it's time to plant it in the ground, too!
No offense, but to be honest I can't even imagine how I'd function if I couldn't smell...
Nah it's fine. It's just like how I can't imagine having to carry around a bunch of clunky "bones" or "organs" wherever I go. Or having only one body at a time.
Everybody's different, right?
